Freelance Job Search Engines

An office job isn’t for everybody, especially if you’re not a 9 to 5 kind of person.  Writers, artists, web programmers, and other professions have an alternative option: freelance work.  This work for hire approach means that you take on jobs for companies and individuals on a temporary basis.  You work for your “employer” until the project is complete, and then move on.  And you can do all of this from the comfort of your own home if you have the right skills.

Elance.com is one of the best sources for freelance job postings online.  You can find jobs in writing, graphic design, web programming, office assistance, engineering, legal professions, and sales and marketing.  Every job posted is for temporary work.  You post an individual bid for each job you want to win and set a price and due date on your own.  If the employer likes your bid, you are awarded the job.  Payments are made through a secure system, like Paypal, and work is done remotely via computer and phone.  Membership to this job board is free, but paying members get access to more jobs per month.

Guru.com is another freelance job board.  Free memberships are offered, though paying members can apply for more projects.  Employers post projects and freelancers bid on them much like Elance.  You must tailor your bid within the budget and time frame of the employer.  However, there are plenty of opportunities for earning big bucks here.  If you have skills in Ecommerce, editing and translation, graphic design, engineering CAD designs, database programming, photography, telemarketing, or business consulting, you’ll find a job here.

iFreelance is a third job board dedicated to helping freelance workers.  This website lets you build a portfolio with a resume and examples of work so that employers can find you. You can then search jobs.  Each listing shows a budget, desired time frame, and job description.  You’ll also be able to see how long you have left to submit a bid before a job is awarded.

All three of these are great freelancing tools that will help connect you with employers.  You’ll find fun, temporary jobs to work on without a problem.
