Monster Job Search

Monster (www.monster.com) is one of the largest job search websites available on the Internet.  It allows users to search jobs in Canada, the United States, and many other countries in Europe, Asia, and South America.

Job hunters can search by job title (or keyword), location (country, city, or zip code), or skills.  Using the Monster search engine, they can then browse through all available positions that fit their needs.

Though Monster has postings for a variety of professions – and is not a niche job board – it is easy to find jobs within your profession using these search options.  So, you don’t have to spend time reading through jobs that don’t fit you.

Monster also has a variety of career tools.  These include a resume builder, in which you can perfect your resume (and allow potential employers to search for you!), career mapping/planning software, and they allow you to build a cover letter, too.  These tools can help optimize your job hunt so that you find a position you are qualified for and a company you are happy working with.

On top of all these tools, Monster also provides a lot of advice.  You can find other resume writing tips, tips on best interviewing practices, and information on career changes.  This helps you find a career path and work your way up the ladder from an entry-level job to upper management.

If you are looking for information on changing careers or going back to school, Monster also has advice on those topics.  You can figure out which degree(s) you need to earn in order to further your career.

Plus, Monster is very reputable.  Employers must pay to post their job advertisements, which weeds out scams.  Most scam artists won’t pay to post their phony ads online.

Keep in mind that there is a downside to everything, too, though.  Even though Monster is a great job hunting and career building tool, there are some cons to using it.  The biggest one is competition.  Though you can find many jobs you are qualified for, those jobs are also exposed to thousands of other applicants.  This means the employer has a bigger pool to choose employees from so your chances of getting hired for a specific job are lower.  You have to really polish your resume to get noticed.
