Recommended and Top Rating Job Search Websites

There are so many job search websites out there that it’s hard to decide which one to use.  The best thing to do is to try out a variety of these websites until you find one more you are comfortable with (after all, if it’s free to join, what’s there to limit you to just one search engine?).  However, this approach isn’t completely practical because a Google search for job websites will return thousands of results.  For this reason, we’re listing the top rated ones below.

These websites all have a few things in common.  They all have a great reputation, high website traffic, lots of exposure to hiring companies, and extra features to help you make the best of your job search.  They are also easy to use.

-Monster (www.monster.com):  As one of the most popular job search engines, there’s no doubt that Monster works for a lot of people.  This website has a lot of tools to help you find, apply for, and get a job.

-CareerBuilder (www.careerbuilder.com): This is one of Monster’s biggest competitors.  Since it’s one of the largest and best rated job search websites around, it’s worth taking a look at.

-LinkedIn (www.linkedin.com): This is a newer website that is gaining in popularity.  It is very simple to use and worth a shot.

-Yahoo! HotJobs (hotjobs.yahoo.com): Yahoo! has a very large database, so you’re sure to find the types of jobs you want here.  You can sort through jobs based on salary, location, and date of posting, so it’s really easy to find the most opportune job postings available in your area.

-CollegeRecruiter (www.collegerecruiter.com): this is a great website for entry-level positions aimed at recent college graduates

-SimplyHired (www.simplyhired.com): this simple, easy-to-use website is a great starting place for any job hunt

Of course, if none of these perfectly suits your needs, you may want to search for a niche job search website.  The top rated websites don’t specialize in any one discipline, like Engineering or Nursing, but there are websites available that do.  Try a Google or Bing search for jobs in your niche (i.e. “Mechanical Engineering Jobs”) and choose one of the websites on the first page of results.  The higher the website turns up in the search results, the better it is likely to be.
