Top internet job boards in USA

In the USA, there are many job boards that have advertisements on television and in magazines.  Monster and CareerBuilder are two of the biggest names, and as such are two of the top Internet job boards in the country.

-Monster (www.monster.com): This large search engine has many features useful for the unemployed.  You can post your resume for free so recruiters look for you while you’re hunting for them, which increases your chances of being found.

-CareerBuilder (www.careerbuilder.com): This website works just like Monster.  It has a ton of extra features, including advice on resume writing and interviewing, which can help you land a job.

Besides these two famous names, there are a lot of newer job boards.  LinkedIn (www.LinkedIn.com) has become extremely popular.  It’s grown along with Twitter and other media websites.  LinkedIn allows users to connect with other people, whether that’s old classmates or new employers.  It also allows word of mouth to play a part.  Since the whole website is about connections, employees or friends of a certain company can recommend your resume for consideration.  With this extra word of mouth, your chances of getting a job increase.

-Hound (www.hound.com) is another, newer job board with listings in the United States. It has a great reputation and is recommended by PC Magazine.  It has over 600,000 current job postings, so finding a position that you love shouldn’t be hard.

-JobServe (www.jobserve.us): This easy-to-use job board is still growing, but it’s gained a high ranking.  You can search by industry or location to up your chances of finding a job in your desired area and field.

-JobCentral (www.jobcentral.com):  This website likes to call itself a national labor exchange.  It has a rapid reemployment initiative to help recently laid-off workers get back into the job force.

For other top job boards, we recommend using the websites listed on PC Magazine (http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2342781,00.asp).  Alternatively, you can perform a Google or Yahoo! search and choose a listing from the first page of results.  The higher the page ranks with a regular search engine, the more popular (and thus successful) it will be.
