If you are an employer, odds are you don’t want to pay high prices to list your job advertisement online. Unfortunately, most of the well-respected job boards require you to pay to list your openings. Websites like Monster and CareerBuilder may even charge a few hundred dollars, so finding a new employee can get expensive. For large companies with huge budgets, this may not be an issue, but for small companies it definitely is.
Thankfully, there are tons of free options for posting jobs on the Internet. And with the recent growth in social media, options are becoming endless.
Although not a traditional job board, Facebook has many uses. If your company has a page on this social website, you can post openings for your followers to see. They can either apply for the job via e-mail or pass the word on to their friends or family members that the position is available. Since Facebook puts so many people in touch, this isn’t a resource to ignore. And even if you list your job position on a traditional website, like Monster, there’s no harm in promoting it by including a link to the advertisement on your Facebook page.
Like Facebook, Twitter has quickly become a popular tool for employers and employees. Even though you can’t post long messages on Twitter – messages have to less than 140 characters – you can post a link to your job posting. In fact, you could list the advertisement on a free blog or other website (like your company’s personal website) and skip using job boards altogether. All Twitter posts are public (unless you make them otherwise), so when you post the link, anyone on the website will be able to see it. You can get a lot of exposure for your job advertisement this way.
If you want a more traditional method of posting free jobs, try Craigslist. This classifieds website allows you to post your job advertisement free of charge, and you can sort it by location so residents of your city know to apply. Since Craigslist is a popular website, you will get a lot of exposure to potential employees this way, which means a lot of resumes for you to read through.
There are some free job boards out there that aren’t classifieds websites. These free job search engines allow users to search for job postings using keywords, just like CareerBuilder and Monster do. These free job boards are at the following websites:
-JobShouts! (http://jobshouts.com): This website offers free job postings, and it uses Twitter to promote your ads.
-Jobvertise (www.jobvertise.com): This job board has over 250,000 job posts already, all for free. And it also has over 800,000 free resumes available for employers to search through.
